First and foremost, my thoughts and prayers go to the people of Hawaii, as I used to live there. When I lived there at first I was stuck at Schofield Baracks, but then I was lucky enough to move to a golf resort just off the beach. While running today, I was brought back to my fondest memories in life! Memories such as enjoying a good cigar at a resort or running on the beach and/or the boardwalk at KoOlina Resort. KoOlina is just an awesome place to be; of course, with the exception of today. Looking at these old pictures of the resort and the beach in Waikiki, it's to bad things have to change so much; moreover, it saddens me to think of the devastation this tsunami could cause? If I were there right now...I'd run up to the top of Kolekole Pass or hike up Diamond Head Trail. Take no chances and may God Bless Hawaii and Chile! Gotta run, Chris UPDATE: Hawaii may have dodged the bullet, but natures out of control! Activity

Reminiscing the Days Spent Running Along the Beach in Hawaii

Skippy Super Chunk + a Run = Wretchedness
Started out a very hectic and stressful day. Around lunch time Kara asked me to run later and of course, I said...hell yeah! We decided on 5 o'clock and it was not exactly my happy hour! Just before she got to my house, I realized I hadn't eaten all day. But did have a pot of coffee. So I whipped up 2 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, half can of Pringles and 2 yogurts. Figured I'd eat healthy since we about to go running. First mistake was probably the double fiber bread and the second was, Skippy Super Chunk! Oh well, I never threw up and when I said, "THAT'S IT" at 2 miles, I never quit! Kara said she was going to keep running and I wasn't going to let her out run me, not today! My damn phone kept ringing throughout the run. And wouldn't you know, this is my ring tone... Gotta run, Chris Activity

Finally Convinced Someone to Run w/Me
It was just a wet and dim day, but it was a good run for a lunch break! We started out with a few hills to warm up and then quickly realized that drivers really didn't give a hoot about runners today! We felt like the kids in this video... Moreover, we never asked to be splashed today! That's it and Kara says she will run some hill repeats with me next time! Gotta run, Chris Activity

Slow and Painful Run for a Sunday
Managed to get in 30-miles for the week and for a Sunday run these last 7-miles were the worst! Spent most of the first and part of the second mile responding to an email. Have you ever tried typing on a BlackBerry while running? Right from the start I had a "I don't want to run" attitude. Must be all the pizzas, beer, soda, and ice cream I woofed down while playing Modern Warfare 2 on Xbox LIVE! Back to MW2, Chris Activity

Back-to-Back 10-Milers and for Tonight Repeats up a Steep 50' Hill
This run would've been a quick 'n easy 3-miler; however, I decided to throw this hill at myself. If you look at the elevation chart below, at about 3/4 of a mile I ascended up the hill. Then at almost exactly 1-mile I made my descent and it seems a TON steeper running down! Before I knew it, I was zig-zagging down the hill like a skier! When I made it down, I stretched my legs out by running a few extra feet and then doubled back up to the top! On a normal run this hill doesn't break me, but after back-to-back 10-milers, the legs were burning! If you look at the mile splits you'll see this hill really slowed up my 2nd mile. Hell of a day for a run, at 38° who can complain? Gotta run, Chris P.S. The elevation change is 50' for this hill; trust me it's much longer than 50'! Activity

No Ice Cream Tonight, Just another 10 Mile Run
Unlike last night, I skipped the ice cream and had an orange before tonight's run. Although I didn't run for speed or hit any hills tonight, it was a great run! Guided by snow on both sides of the country roads I ran tonight, it was relaxing. As I clipped along the dark roads at a comfortable pace, no more than 10 cars passed me. I just got into a rhythm, listening to Going Rogue: An American Life By Sarah Palin. One thing that stuck out in the hour an a half I was listening to her narrate. Is the fact that when Sarah Palin ran for Mayor of Wasilla, Alaska; she ran on a campaign promise to cut her own salary. After she was elected Mayor she kept that promise and did! That's about as awesome as Mayor Oscar Goodman refusing an invitation to meet with President Obama! Oh, hell yeah! Now it's time for the ice cream, Chris Activity
